BPOS at Pakistan ophthalmic society Lahore 32nd Ophthalmo 2012

It was the first formal delegate attendance from BPOS members at Pakistan Ophthalmological society meeting at Lahore Ophthalmo 2012. The aim was to share the scientific knowledge with the Pakistani ophthalmic community and develop bilateral ties.
The background work was ongoing between the speakers from BPOS and executive committee of Lahore Ophthalmo 2012 for the last few months. Prof Mian M Shafiq ( Secretary) and Prof Ali Haider (Chairman Scientific Committee) had put up a very interesting and diverse program and very kindly included 16 instructional courses and talks from eight members of BPOS.
M Zaheen and Shuaib Chauhdry gave 3 instructional courses and 2 lectures on oculoplastics. Rashid Zia managed instructional courses on cataract and glaucoma; also presided 3 scientific meetings. Amer Awan had major contributions in cataract and retinal programs. He also chaired 2 meetings on cataract and retinal diseases. Usman Saeed discussed about how to get scientific papers published and IOL quality. He was president of 2 meetings. Sofia Rokerya, Tariq Saboor and Ijaz Sheikh contributed towards medical retina program.
BPOS team was awarded special souvenirs at the opening ceremony with the pledge to continue to participate in future ophthalmic meetings in Pakistan. The future training of ophthalmologists from Pakistan and contribution towards the research programs was discussed.
